sweet froggy...

I just made this cake for a friend's little girl who I know from dance class.  Izzy is turning 6 and had so much fun in her new pool this summer.  She has also made some new friends while having a pool...frogs!!!  Izzy has just fallen in love with frogs so she had to have a froggy birthday party.  I copied the same frog from her invitations and this is what came out.  It's so cute!!!  It's 2 9" round yellow cakes with 1 6" yellow on top.  The cake has pink vanilla icing in between the cakes.  I use my special marshmallow fondant for the rest cake.  The frog on top is fondant and can be eaten.  Hope you enjoy your cake Izzy!!!

My lovely photg friend, Allison, asked me to make her mother a beautiful Jackie O inspired cake.  I made something very chic, simple with a little bit of elegance.  Also her mother is an optometrist so we had to throw on some 60's cat glasses for fun.  So cute!!!

Curl Up and Dye

Curl up and dye has always been a dream salon name for my beauty shop.  As you can tell that dream hasn't come true yet.  He-he. I always wanted to go to beauty school and create and play with color and different haircuts.  One day when my 3 year old gets it together and finally goes to school full time, I may go and make my little dream come true.   Here's a cake that was designed for a hairdresser.  This is a yellow and chocolate cake with white icing and as always marshmallow fondant.

Chubby Cheeks and Thighs?!!!

Oreo and cream cheese cake pops covered in white and milk chocolate.

Pictures by the talented Allison Hoffman
This week I was asked to make 150 cake pops for our Youth Pastor and youth group.  At first I thought no problem...wow was I wrong.  After talking some of my moms group friends to help out we found out how difficult these little cute pops are.  I had to say we did like the challenge.  As we were getting a little delirious over all the Oreos and cream cheese that went into these my friend blurted out that's it I'm quitting my job as and nurse to work at chubby cheeks and thighs.  Of course we all laughed and I said so whose got the cheeks and whose got the thighs?  Did I mention that there were 5 kids we were watching at the time we were making these?  Yeah, we need a day care for the kids in order to make big orders like this.

For my hero...

Photos by Allison Hoffman
In December of 2011 my best friend, Eileen Murphy, was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma.  We were all shocked.  She had a huge tumor that was in her chest pushing on her heart along with a couple others.  My life turned upside down.  I didn't know what to do and had no control over any of it.  Eileen had to go through 9 long months of chemo and then 6 weeks of radiation.  My nervous where a mess.  I had lost all control of every emotion.  This was my best friend since I was 4 year old.  We has a 25+ year friendship.  We were next door neighbors and even went to the same college.  I was devastated.  But Eileen keep going through it all.  She kept living her life as if cancer was not really there.  She kept a "normal" lifestyle as much as she could.  While I was all kinds of emotions for her.  I was scared.  I didn't want to lose her, I didn't want my kids to lose their aunt.  I have no siblings and Eileen is more than a sister to me.  I would face book her every Friday with inspirational songs, Bible versus, quotes, and even wishing her a Happy Chemo Day.  She must of thought I was crazy.  But we both got to the other side of it.  She is now very happy to be in remission and I believe that our faith in Christ is how we both made it.  They say you have to keep positive when you go through cancer and it's so true.  So I have dedicated this cake to her.  I also donated this for a Relay for Life fundraiser to honor her and other survivors of all cancers.  I love you Eileen with all my heart.  I don't know if I could make it in this crazy world without you, sis.

Hi everyone! I've started a blog to post pics of my cakes and other sweet treats that I've made and get a little more business.  I've only been doing word of mouth references but after a year and half I think it's time to take the world by storm (insert evil laugh)!!!

I have finally found something that has brought a lot of joy and got me out of the "mommie" roll to go back to my free bird self creating things. I'm really excited and nervous about doing all this so please be patient and kind with me as this process continues.

So think of me or "Chubby Cheeks Cakes and Cups" when you need something spectacular for any occasion.  Thanks!
